Frequently Asked Questions

How to use Image to Pixel Art?

Follow these steps to turn an image into pixel art:

  1. Upload: In the left panel, open the Upload tab. Drag a file onto the box or click to choose an image (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, or SVG). Optional: tap a preset (Art, Sprite, Minecraft, Retro, GameBoy) for a quick style.
  2. Adjust: Use the Adjust tab — change Pixel Size (bigger blocks = fewer pixels). Tune brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue; turn on Dithering if you want smoother shading when using a palette.
  3. Palette (optional): In Palette, enable Enable Palette and pick a palette (e.g. Pico-8, Game Boy). Colors snap to that set.
  4. Grid (optional): In Grid, show a pixel grid, set color and opacity to align tiles or sprites.
  5. Preview: The main area shows your result. Use Preview / Before/After and drag the divider to compare with the original. Use +, , and Fit to zoom. Undo/Redo apply to tool settings. Shortcuts: 1–4 switch sidebar tabs, Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y undo/redo, Ctrl+C copy PNG (secure context).
  6. Export: Use the Export section below the preview (above FAQ) — pick PNG or WebP, solid or transparent background, then Copy PNG, Download Small (true pixel size), Download Original (source resolution), or Download 4× HD.

Everything runs in your browser; adjust any setting anytime and the preview updates automatically.
